Where do I find the InDesign Preferences and Meadows Preferences folder?
Many of the settings for Meadows software products are located inside a folder titled Meadows. The Meadows folder exists inside the same preferences folder as Adobe InDesign preferences. This document provides instructions for how to locate the Meadows folder. A separate section is provided for clients running software for Adobe InDesign Desktop vs Adobe InDesign Server.
DESKTOP VERSIONS OF ADOBE INDESIGN
This section describes the location of the Meadows folder for Adobe InDesign Desktop systems. If you are running Adobe InDesign Server, please scroll to the next section of this document.
Try the Help Menu First
If you are running AccurioPro software, the easiest way to find the Meadows folder is to use the product Help menu. To do this, start InDesign and select AccurioPro > Help > Open Settings Folder..., which will open the Meadows folder on your desktop.
If you do not have access to AccurioPro software, or if you prefer to navigate to the Meadows folder manually (as occasionally instructed by our support team), please follow the steps outlined below.
Macintosh Computers (Desktop)
To access the Meadows folder manually on a Macintosh computer, please follow the steps outlined below.
- From the desktop, select Go > Go to Folder... from under the menu at the top of the screen.
- Enter the following path and click the Go button:
~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/
This will put you into the main Adobe InDesign preferences folder. From there, the rest of the path to the Meadows folder is as follows:
The full path to the Meadows folder is as follows:[Version #.#]/[language]/Meadows
[User Name] represents your user name on the systemMacintosh HD/Users/[User Name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/[Version #.#]/[language]/Meadows
[Version #.#] is a folder name that represents the version of InDesign you are running (CS6 = Version 8.0, 2023 = Version 18.0)
[language] represents the InDesign language version you are running (example: en_US would be the folder for US English)
How to Find Current User Name
To find out which user is logged into the system, open the Command Prompt and type in the following:
users
The current user name will be displayed on the next line.
Windows Computers (Desktop)
The location of the Meadows folder for Adobe InDesign for Windows is different depending upon the version of Windows you are running:
Windows 10 and Windows 7
C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\[Version #.#]\[language]\Meadows
Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\[Version #.#]\[language]\Meadows
[User Name] represents your user name on the system
[Version #.#] is a folder name that represents the version of InDesign you are running (CS6 = Version 8.0, 2023 = Version 18.0)
[language] represents the InDesign language version you are running (example: en_US would be the folder for US English)
Windows systems may hide folders when displaying the contents in your [User Name] folder. If you do not see a folder named AppData, please reference the Hidden Folders section at the end of this article.
How to Find Current User Name

The current user name will be displayed on the next line.
How to find Windows Version
To find out which version of Windows you are running, open the Command Prompt and type in the following:
winver
Your version of Windows should be displayed.
SERVER VERSIONS OF ADOBE INDESIGN
This section describes the location of the Meadows folder for Adobe InDesign Server systems. If you are running Adobe InDesign Desktop, please scroll to the top section of this document.
No User Interface
Because Adobe InDesign Server does not provide a user interface, the Meadows folder can be accessed only by navigating to the folder manually. Please follow the steps outlined below to access the Meadows folder on an Adobe InDesign Server system.
Macintosh Computers (InDesign Server)
To access the Meadows folder manually on a Macintosh computer, please follow the steps outlined below.
- From the desktop, select Go > Go to Folder... from under the menu at the top of the screen.
- Enter the following path and click the Go button:

HIDDEN FOLDERS ON WINDOWS
Windows systems may hide folders when displaying the contents in your [User Name] folder. If you do not see a folder named AppData, then do the following:
Windows 10
For Windows 10 systems, you can first try using the View menu options when you are inside of the folder. If that does not work, then do the following:
- Select the Start button, then enter Control Panel to open this feature.
- Select File Explorer Options (use Search box if too many options visible).
- Click the View tab.
- Scroll down a bit and change the Hidden files and folders setting to Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
- Optionally, you may wish to uncheck the Hide protected operating system files box as well.
Windows 7
- Select the Start button, then enter Control Panel to open this feature.
- Select Appearance and Personalization.
- Select Folder Options, then select the View tab.
- Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
- Click Apply and then click OK to close the Control Panel window.
